HISTORY MADE - Cornelius Tosses MBL's First No-Hitter

On Tuesday night, Houston Buffaloes starter Reid Cornelius made history against the New York Rippers by becoming the first pitcher in Millennium League history to throw a no-hitter.  Before his home crowd at the Astrodome, Cornelius was masterful, retiring the first 26 batters he faced without incident.  Ripper pinch-hitter Shane Spencer coaxed a walk with two outs in the ninth to spoil the perfect game bid.  Rondell White then lined out to Desi Relaford to end the game and preserve the no-hitter.  Cornelius struck out nine Rippers in the game.

To give you an idea of just how improbable his no-hitter was, Cornelius had entered the contest with an ERA of 6.02 in six starts.  In his last outing, he allowed eight runs and six hits in only four innings of work against the Boston Beaneaters.  Cornelius was drafted by the Buffaloes in the 21st round of the MBLs Dispersal Draft.

For the year, Cornelius is 5-1 with a 4.86 ERA.
